Rota Ablation, or Rotational Atherectomy, is a highly specialized interventional cardiac procedure used to treat severe, heavily calcified (rock-hard) coronary artery blockages. When plaques inside the artery walls become calcified, standard angioplasty balloons cannot expand them, and stents cannot seat properly. Rota ablation solves this by utilizing a miniature diamond-coated burr (drill) rotating at speeds between 140,000 to 200,000 RPM. It gently grinds the calcified barrier into microscopic, fine particles that are safely cleared by the bloodstream, smoothing out the vessel segment for successful stenting.
